The Process
How does this all work?
1 Let’s discuss what you have for sale. We will need descriptions of each item, including any history on the item, where it was obtained or purchased.
2 Let’s make an appointment to discuss and inspect your item. We will need to see the item you would like to sell, to take digital pictures. Ideally, we’d like to take possession of the item, so its shipment to the auction winner is more efficient. If that is not possible, arrangements can be made.
3 We will research your item right there with you, showing you what similar items have sold and their price. We are looking for items that are selling for at least $150 on eBay (depending on the item).
4 All items are inventoried and taken to our office. You receive a detailed list of the items in our possession.
5 We list the item on eBay, and provide you with information to see your item on eBay.
6 After the end of the auction, you receive information showing you what price your item sold for on eBay.
7 We collect the final value for the item from the highest bidder. After payment has cleared, we ship the item to the winning bidder
8 The buyer has 14 days to inspect the item. After this time, we send you a check for the net of the sale (the sale minus fees). Checks are sent out on a two-week basis.
Fee Description:
There is no charge for an appointment at our office, or at your home (within 40 miles of our office).

NJ appointments within 40-75 miles of Atlantic Highlands --? $35

Commission:
Clients are charged a commission on the final auction value of each item (please note that these are not eBay fees, but are fees that Packrat Auction charges):
30% of the first $500,
plus 25% between $500.01 and $3,000,
plus 15% above $3,000
Example: Item sells for $800.
30% of the first $500 = $150
25% of the balance ($300) = $75
$225 total commission paid
The following fees will also be deducted from any monies due to you after the sale (this does not apply to your vehicle listing):

eBay Fees: These include the listing fee, final value fee, and any fees for additional services (bold listing, buy it now, additional picture fee, etc.). Follow this link to view eBay's fees.

Credit Card & PayPal Fees: If a bidder uses a credit card to purchase the item won, either through Pay Pal or our credit card merchant account, these credit card fees will be deducted from any monies due to you.

Our two programs (choose either one)

If your opening bid is $9.99 or less, we charge you $1 to list your item.

If your item does not sell, there is no additional charge. If your opening bid is above $9.99 and/or a reserve price is used, we charge a minimum commission of $10 (regardless of the sale price), PLUS eBay fees incurred to list that item.

China Listings: Due to the extra labor and fragile nature of listing china on eBay, an additional pick up fee will be incurred based on the number of pieces picked up from the customer:

Collections of 30 pieces or less: A charge of $20 to pick up and list your item on eBay (up to $200 opening bid or reserve set) unless we open the bidding at $9.99 without a reserve price set. $20 charge is applied towards commissions earned for the sale of these china pieces

Collections of between 30-50 pieces: A charge of $30 to pick up and list your item on eBay (up to $300 opening bid or reserve set) unless we open the bidding at $9.99 without a reserve price set. $30 charge is applied towards commissions earned for the sale of these china pieces.

Collections of 50-80 pieces: A charge of $40 to pick up and list your item on eBay (up to $400 opening bid or reserve set) unless we open the bidding at $9.99 without a reserve price set. $40 charge is applied towards commissions earned for the sale of these china pieces.

Collections of over 80 pieces: A charge of $60 to pick up and list your item on eBay (up to $500 opening bid or reserve set) unless we open the bidding at $9.99 without a reserve price set. $60 charge is applied towards commissions earned for the sale of these china pieces.

Automobiles: We charge $85 to list your vehicle for your first listing of that vehicle. We charge 6% commission on the sale of your vehicle. Your initial $85 payment is applied towards our commission charged. Our fee for the first listing of your vehicle covers ALL eBay charges.

Automobile re-lists: There is a $50 charge to re-list your vehicle on eBay, this $50 charge is not applied to our commission if the vehicle sells on the re-list. We reserve the right to refuse to list an item on eBay if we feel it will not sell.
